No importa la edad, la actividad física proporciona diversos beneficios para todos aquellos que la realizan. Desde mejoras en el estado de ánimo hasta reducción del riesgo de hipertensión, accidentes cerebrovascular, diabetes, cáncer de mama y de colon, además mejora la salud ósea y funcional y es fundamental para el control del peso.
Según datos de la Organización Mundial de la Salud, por lo general las mujeres y niñas son menos activas que los varones, al igual que los adultos mayores quienes solo un pequeño porcentaje en el mundo realizan actividad física al entrar a la tercera edad.
Es importante destacar que la cantidad de actividad física y la intensidad de ésta depende de cada persona ya que se debe tomar en cuenta sus aptitudes, edad y condiciones médicas a fin de elegir la adecuada para cada uno. Es recomendable que a menor edad la actividad debe ser intensa correspondiente a actividades de velocidad y fuerza, mientras que adultos mayores y pacientes con enfermedades crónicas deberán realizar actividad moderada que incluya caminatas o bailes.
Cada etapa de la vida trae consigo habilidades que se deben desarrollar o mantener, situación que se logra gracias a la activación física, por tanto es importante que se desarrollé el gusto por ésta a través de pequeños esfuerzos que de manera gradual deberán aumentar hasta lograr hacer del ejercicio un hábito.
El creciente proceso de urbanización, la reducción de espacios para el deporte y la introducción de una mayor cantidad de dispositivos electrónicos, han contribuido de manera importante al sedentarismo. Por ello, es necesario promover el ejercicio para mejorar la calidad de vida.
Ante esto la Universidad de Morelia en el marco de las actividades de celebración por sus primeros 25 años realizará una Macroactivación Física en la Plaza Jardín Morelos, mediante la cual se busca promover en todos los sectores de la sociedad la importancia de hacer actividades que fortalezcan la salud y el bienestar.
